The Teenage Runaways - Identity Check lyrics

I feel like the whole worlds out to spite me But despite my feelings people tell me that I'm alright But people say I need therapy Because I guess I'm a rarity and my rate of prosperity is plummeting And they're struggling to keep up with my troubling behavior To them I'm becoming a stranger They all say that God can be my saviour but beliefs aren't in my nature I'd rather roll weed laced papers or exhale vapors than to put my faith in someone that won't do me any favors It might sound self centered, but I think it's for the better I'm short tempered and I don't think Jesus can be my mentor I'm not the type of guy to censor myself or even worse, converse with people who make themselves sound perfect I don't mean to disrespect you, but nobody's life is one hundred percent correct, and if you try to argue, the issue I will address is that the last time I checked nobody else's life affects yours and you don't know what others go through So recollect your thoughts, because I'm sick of people pretending everything is okay when it's not, come on people connect the dots, Your plot to sound hot and to the biggest of the big shots is failing miserably You keep tying knots in your rope that holds your bag of flaws, making it impossible for people to visually see inside, but no matter how hard you try, you can't put a limit on imagery, From that nobody can hide You've got a trinity of infantries pointed directly at your dignity, I see that instantly the second you learned that you were almost under attack you impishly said that you'd step back and be yourself, So fold who you were and put it on the shelf and let's see who you really are You shine just like star and reflect off me like the moon does to a lake So the lesson to learn and to take in is to be yourself and not to make mistakes about who you are Being yourself is a piece of cake Don't let others make you who you are If you let that happen it'll be by far the most bizarre thing someone could ever experience Don't fall victim to someone's social experiments Because that's weird and irritant And signifigantly ignorant So don't be stupid Cause you could ruin your life The people you thought were your best friends can stab you in the back with sharp knives So please surround yourself with only the best of the people who come around throughout the years, because they are the ones who won't make you shed any tears, Make sure in every situation you're safe and sound Otherwise, fight everything head on until it disappears, then you'll have nothing to fear Be eager to learn and ready to burn out from a pile up of stress But at least you'll be successful Watch out for who you caress because people aren't always who They seem to be They can be teeming with hate And that's something you don't want on your plate Cause nothing hurts worse than heart break because you fake being happy and the action of being gloomy takes over and you barricade yourself in your room
