The Spangle Maker - The Modern Ameinias: Tears lyrics

He is sitting in this room. It's different from any other room. It is bathed in fading twilight With the darkness approaching nigh A little light peering through the window Is the only comforting embrace he feels Tonight beneath the starry canopy Here within this confining hollow He wonders if this sentence imposed Is really as long as he feared it would be: Indefinite, cold and lonely Without possibility of parole or reprieve And he wonders if this sentence imposed Is one that he chose or someone else proposed? Was the branding of the iron self-inflected Or did Fortuna's wheel pronounce His destiny? For he knew in his heart, he never wanted to be alone He would say, "If our fate is isolation, why do we then yearn for a connection?" He kept his eyes open wide for someone he could call his own All the while trying not to yield to a great despair and desperation. And he remembers those times in his youth heading for the dance hall Looking where the girls congregated; never crossing that invisible line In fact the female, whether part or whole, never intrigued him much at all So he broke down the wardrobe doors; his one he knew then how to define He would have a tender heart oriented toward the land of love He would have an active mind navigating through the different waters And he would have a fiery soul longing to swim down the mystical depths And he would have an outer form in harmony with all the inner They will voyage together through the enormous ocean of life They will see each other through both fair winds and violent gales And they will admire each other for who they really are And they will build each other up to be who they really are But better So he entered the commune of alternate sociability Suddenly he was noticed when he wasn't noticed before They saw him as a young man, rich with ardent arability And they promise him a dream fulfilled, complete with full rapport Yet he felt that there was a gap between the dream and the real; For he has pa**ionate nights instead that dissipate with the morning dew The pleasures of the flesh were never what he wanted to feel Nevertheless he continues to search there in vain for his love true He would still have the outer form in harmony with all the inner And he would still have the fiery soul, the active mind and the tender heart They would journey together through the calm seas and the rampant storms And they would be truly themselves but also grow to each other's perfection Yet the world affirms only to pursue the corporeal And that his yearnings are futile and his dream an impossibility. In spite of that he still believes he can have what his heart desires And he presses on towards an increasingly dark uncertainty.
