He was told by his other friend Ca**ias, as being to most honest man of Rome. Brutus made his speech effective in persuading the people by using tone and rhetorical devices. Brutus was compa**ionate when referring to how he loved Caesar as much as Caesar`s friends of his speech. Brutus was showing compa**ion on lines 18 - 20 when he said, "If there be any in this a**embly, any dear friend of Caesar's, to him I say that Brutus's love to Caesar was no less than his."(From the Play Julius Caesar). Brutus said this to help the people understand the sorrow he felt. In the end Brutus was a good person that loved his country, which led to some of his motives. But also made his persuasion even better to the people by trying to reside to the being friends with Caesar rather then enemies
