Peter Emmanuel biography

Peter Emmanuel was born on the 13th of December 1978. Born into a family of music lovers he showed a passion for poetry and music at an early age, by the time he was 11 he was already winning literature contests and writing poetry prodigious for his age. Fortunate that his father was a lover of western music, he discovered Kenny Rogers, Diana Ross, Michael Jackson (he would jump on tables and sing to B.A.D.), Jimmy Cliff and Richie Valenz of “La Bamba” fame. Moving on to teenage his taste for music was determined by what was exceptional and hot with teens but he never lost the ear for good music- Boyz 2 Men, Aerosmith, Nirvana, The Cranberries. He wrote his first song at 14, it didn’t get him a deal –it was a dream just starting to bud. And then he discovered the Beatles and began to dream of being a songwriter. He joined his church choir and learned the guitar , to compose, sing and produce, he would write songs that the choir would perform and music he discovered is his calling. All through this while a keenness for self-discovery made him spend long hours reading poetry and writing too and eventually even though he studied Economics in college it didn’t stop him from prolifically writing poetry, short-stories and articles and selling them for little fees(which he regrets till this day) to his colleagues studying literature. With the popularity of the Internet he started to read wider on what it takes to be a professional songwriter and diligently read articles on www.taxi.com, www.ascap.com, and other sites for writers including the classic references “The Elements of Style” and “The Elements of Music”. He came across www.tonos.com and got Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds to critique lyrics to some songs he had written on the condition that Mr. Edmonds should not reply unless he thought he could make a professional songwriter. As fate would have it Mr. Edmonds replied and encouraged him and advised him on what it takes to better his craft. He is also a former member of the Songwriters Guild of America. Peter Emmanuel’s writing as come a long way and today he is that quintessential writer/artist that writes country, pop, gospel , alternative and rock songs transforming his feelings, ideas and experiences into honest, heartfelt songs that will no doubt become classics. He believes he is just starting “I will write for the rest of my life, inspiring people to love , celebrating the values of humanity with my craft, telling stories that make us cry, laugh and love”. He is a writer destined for greatness.
