Ashley Codianni - What Happens When You Ask GOP And Democratic Congressmen To Talk Obamacare Over Drinks lyrics

2 Democrats. 2 Republicans. Bipartisan Pub Crawl @ Capitol Lounge. [Rep. Adam Kinzinger - (R-IL)]: You guys have probably noticed this like, if somebody asks you and they're kind of jovial: "Hey, what do you what you do for a living?" "I'm a US Congressman." It's like, now it's like this 'serious face' comes in. [Rep. Trey Radel - (R-FL)]: Womp Womp Womp [Rep. Kyrsten Sinema - (D-AZ)]: You know, it's really interesting working in a legislative body where head lice is more popular than you are. [Rep. Trey Radel]: But the eternal optimist in me thinks that maybe there can be a little bit more of a spirit of bipartisanship and being able to work together. [Rep. Kyrsten Sinema]: Yeah. [Rep. Patrick Murphy - (D-FL)]: It's all about working together. You know, breaking down those artificial boundaries and making the big decisions. [Rep. Adam Kinzinger]: I think the big key to a lot of this is: we've got to stop yelling at each other. [Rep. Trey Radel]: Totally. [Rep. Kyrsten Sinema]: Yeah. [Rep. Adam Kinzinger]: You know what? I think it starts right here at this table. [Rep. Kyrsten Sinema]: This table. [Rep. Trey Radel]: Cheers to that. [ALL]: Cheers. [Rep. Patrick Murphy]: Breaking down the artificial barriers. [Rep. Kyrsten Sinema]: That's right. OBAMACARE [Rep. Patrick Murphy]: There's probably something we can all agree on... [Rep. Kyrsten Sinema]: Yeah. [Rep. Patrick Murphy]: ...in that our healthcare system is broken. It is way too expensive. I think we can all agree on that; and the Affordable Care Act might not be perfect, but it was at least a step into reigning in those costs and putting a cap on them. [Rep. Adam Kinzinger]: When your party was in charge, if you had reached out to the Republicans and said "bring us all your options..." [Rep. Kyrsten Sinema]: One of my big criticisms was that it was only Democrats in both the House and the Senate and there's not much legislation in our country's history that's large and sustainable that is done under one party rule. [Rep. Patrick Murphy]: It is what it is. It's here, so let's improve it and do our part in at least making sure it's the best, you know, it is for our constituents. [Rep. Trey Radel]: But y'all are hitting it right on the head, which is, it's, it's the law. OK? The best thing I think that we as a body can do for our country is to give certainty and stability. So our business owners know... [Rep. Kyrsten Sinema]: That's right. [Rep. Trey Radel]: that these are the rules... [Rep. Kyrsten Sinema]: ...and prepare. [Rep. Trey Radel]: "Now, now I can go out. I can start hiring." [Rep. Kyrsten Sinema]: Yeah. [Rep. Trey Radel]: "I can invest without fear of getting hit with big taxes or, or penalties or whatever it may be." [Rep. Kyrsten Sinema]: Yeah. Yeah. [Rep. Trey Radel]: And that, that's where we have to work together.
