Looking out across the land
Fractured and gray from where I stand
Wind and weather - shifting earth and stone
Words adrift in monotone
I hear the sounds of endless night
A world consumed with justified fright
Mistrust practiced on every side
Rifts between countries opening wide
Is it enough to ask?
For all who rule
To put our welfare
In the political pool
Working toward
A compromise
To understand
Both weak and wise
Another day in contemplative thought
A vision for tomorrow today we bought
To live a life in complacency
A newer trend for simplicity
