Crazy Terry and the Walking Dead
Open sewers and a talking head
A sat inside for a minute or three, until the minister at the altar sacrificed the point for levity
The third knee-slapper found me heading for the door
While the minister searched the pockets of the people shouting out for more
The aisleway was slow, due to the traffic of all the citizens being baptized who fit the local demographic
I couldn't see through the mist of tears
I took a survey from the usher as a souvenir
The preacher prayed as the people cried
And the accompanying guitarist turned his amp up high
There He was, He was sitting on the curb
I wondered if He had an idea what had just occurred
"In all respect," I said, "What are You doing here?"
He said, "Man, I haven't been inside that place for years!"
I shook my head, He shifted His eyes
To a billboard with a quote the preacher plagerized
A bus pulled up with a hobo inside
He said, "This is my church, wanna take a ride?"
The bus was heading down the end of the road
I said religion was a heavy load
I grimaced at the thought of what He might say
He said, "Now, that's the brightest thing you've said all day"
"nevermind the baffled kings"
"live for what you see in me"
"you will find the truth you seek"
"and the truth will set you free"…so be free!
Now, Crazy Terry and the Rock ‘n' Roll Band
Are still touring all across the land
Crusades are the latest thing
The concert's F R E E! … with a love offering
Me and Jesus are doing fine
Taking the road one mile at a time
Loving folks with the greatest of ease
Dirty shirts, holes in our knees
They do it all in the name of God
The checks, they cash in the name of God
Me and Jesus, we shake our heads…
It's just Crazy Terry and the Walking Dead
